Making Jesus Your Everything

Hebrews 12:2 NKJV "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

When we make Jesus our #1 priority, suddenly everything falls into perfect place. We wake with purpose, we work with joy, we speak with kindness, but most importantly, we live with confidence knowing that He is right there beside us, living and rejoicing with us!

Colossians 2:6-8 NIV "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ."

God is:

  1. Our everlasting God (Psalm 48:14)
  2. Our Father (Isaiah 64:8, Matthew 23:9)
  3. Our Friend (John 15:15)
  4. Like a mother (Isaiah 66:13
  5. The One who never leaves (Deuteronomy 31:8)
  6. Our Comforter (Isaiah 66:13, John 14:18)
  7. Our Strong Protector (2 Samuel 22:3-4, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Isaiah 41:10, Luke 12:32)
  8. Our Eternal Home (2 Corinthians 5:1)
  9. Our Refuge, Helper, and Strength (Psalm 46:1)
And He is so much more! We know that we will never ever be left alone, even to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20)! If we lose everything, God will be our everything as He always was. Even if our loved ones or the things that we enjoyed are not there anymore, we will always have Jesus. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." NIV Isaiah 40:8

It is so much easier to centre your life around God and make Him #1 to you right now when the sunshine is shining and the flowers are blooming, than when the storm hits and the waves try to drown you (but He can draw you near in both situations!). Even though it usually takes the worse to bring out the best, wouldn't you prefer having the best without the worse? You can, it only takes love and willingness on your part, and God will do the rest!

James 4:8 NIV "Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

Even when I fail at it, I will always be SO grateful for making Jesus my "everything". He doesn't have a tight schedule nor does He sleep or take breaks (Psalm 121:4), so He is always there to listen and to comfort His children! Take the time and rest in His arms, make Him your everything, and He will be everything that you need.

In love from your sister,
