Seeking Jesus This Summer + Proverbs 31 Memorization

Happy Saturday friends! :)

Last week I finished memorizing Proverbs 31:10-31. I am so happy! Thank You Jesus for the ability to remember Your Word!!!

I began memorizing in mid-January, and finished on May 25. I memorized 1 verse each week and recited them to my mom every Sunday... It was SO special to hide the Scriptures in my heart and open it every time I needed it! Since I memorized Proverbs 31 during winter, verse 13 and 17 were incredible to remind myself with when I was shovelling the snow outdoors... "She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands" ... "She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengthened her arms." Every week Jesus revealed to me ways in which I could be a "virtuous woman"!

Proverbs 31
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruits of her hands, she planted a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengthened her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hands to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."

Now that by God's grace I have finished memorizing Proverbs 31, I can move on to even more exciting things! Participating in Loving The Lord's "Summer Pursuit 2014"!! It is an amazing challenge (event) that lasts during the whole summer to encourage you to seek Jesus with all of your heart. I am so blessed to have found this! The goal is to spend at least 15 minutes with the Lord (prayer, Bible reading, etc...), memorize 1 verse a week, and contact a friend or family member every 2 weeks to talk about your progress! You can watch Amy Vest's beautiful video about it here

The challenge is beginning tomorrow on June 1st (yes, June is already here!), would you like to join me? I would so love to hear how Jesus is changing your heart towards Him during this spring and summer!!

Psalm 27:8 "When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face; my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek."

Today my family and I planted our garden with Yahweh's marvelous creations! I am very excited with all the possible posts I can write about it, so stay tuned! I will write up an update and more encouraging nature-oriented posts soon, Lord willing!

The flowers and pepper plants we chose for the garden!
I look forward to this summer of seeking our amazing Savior and Friend with you all!!!

Prayers For My Grandpa

Shalom!

Could you all please pray for my grandpa? He was hospitalized on May 21st because he awoke at 4AM unable to breath... The doctors sent him back home on the 24th, but this morning (28th) my uncle told us that he was back at the hospital with the same problem.

A train nearby my town... My grandpa LOVES trains! In fact, he was born in a train station. His father was a station master, and lived with his family just above the actual train station.
My grandpa, Marcel, is my dad's father, but sadly doesn't believe in Christ... He knows about Jesus through the Catholic faith, but he openly says that he "doesn't need Him". Please pray for his soul, and for him to fear death enough that he will run back to Jesus. Like my dad says, "As long as there is life, there is hope." At 88 years old with heart failure problems, being hospitalized is no small matter... But with God's triumphant grace and  power, we can rest assured that His hand will be in this all along the way!

2 Corinthians 4:4 "The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. As a result, they don’t see the light of the Good News about Christ’s glory. It is Christ who is God’s image."

My grandpa and I last summer... Notice the pink ribbon on his cane handle? Yeah, that was to make him a bit more jolly about having to walk with a cane for a week!
John 5:24 "I can guarantee this truth: Those who listen to what I say and believe in the One who sent Me will have eternal life. They won’t be judged because they have already passed from death to life."

I love my grandpa, and know that he is strong by our Lord's grace!! Thank you all so much for your prayers.

Isaiah 30:18 "Yahweh is waiting to be kind to you. He rises to have compassion on you. Yahweh is an Elohim of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for Him."

I hope that you have a beautiful Father's Day soon, celebrating the wonderful dad and grandpas in your life!

Modesty Is Not Just About Appearance

It is about your heart... Your speech... Your motives... Your attitude... And ultimately, the way you dress yourself.

Pin/share this to bless others!
Two years ago Jesus laid on my heart to lead a life set apart for Him... Very different than how I was before. These changes included more love, devotion, attitude changes (uhh, He's still working on that!), and a more decent wardrobe and motives.

But what IS modesty? Is it simply the wearing of skirts and fully covering shirts? For some, yes. I love wearing skirts (I mostly always have, especially dresses!), and I think that in some cases it is easier to leave more to the imagination in them. But if another sister wears pants, as they can be decent too, will we give her a judgmental, condescending glance (in our hearts without realizing it)? ... Would Jesus have done that?

John 8:7 "When they persisted in asking Him questions, He straightened up and said, “The person who is sinless should be the first to throw a stone at her."

This verse above tells the answer of Jesus concerning an adulterous woman (who broke God's 10 commandments), yet Jesus (Yeshua) told her, "...Where did they go? Has anyone condemned you?” The woman answered, “No one, sir.” Yeshua said, “I don’t condemn you either. Go! From now on don’t sin." John 8:8-9 And we all know that adultery is a very different subject, so if Yeshua Himself was able to forgive this woman, just imagine what is expected of us when we want to judge others! Remember that Paul advised us to "dress with modest apparel" (1 Timothy 2:9) and the word "modest" means "Properly, restrained by a sense of propriety; hence, not forward or bold; not presumptuous or arrogant; not boastful; ..." and to dress with "good works" (such as love and non-judgementalism). Remember that if the other person's clothes are not up to your modesty standards, it does not make them less of a Christian.

Matthew 7:1-5 "Stop judging so that you will not be judged. Otherwise, you will be judged by the same standard you use to judge others. The standards you use for others will be applied to you. So why do you see the piece of sawdust in another believer’s eye and not notice the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to another believer, ‘Let me take the piece of sawdust out of your eye,’ when you have a beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye. Then you will see clearly to remove the piece of sawdust from another believer’s eye."

Sisters, I know that we all want to love and never judge one another... But sometimes (I am including myself), we are prone to judge quickly without even thinking about it, or wanting to hurt the other person. This goes for everything, not just clothing... Can we take our eyes off (yet honor) outward modesty for a second and look up to Jesus, and His teachings here on earth? He said,

Matthew 6:25, 28 "So I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes? And why worry about clothes? Notice how the flowers grow in the field. They never work or spin yarn for clothes."

Clearly appearence was not as much of a concern to God compared to our attitude towards each other and love for Him, the Father. So even though it is a good thing to dress with sense and prudence, why make it so serious? As much as I support and enjoy it, wearing skirts is not the 11th commandment.

I pray that Yahweh will give us good judgement towards ourselves, and love to others. I love you all and hope to walk the narrow way joyfully with you and Christ!

Have a wonderful (almost) weekend!

Sara's Birthday Celebration

Psalm 100
"Shout happily to Yahweh, all the earth.
Serve Yahweh cheerfully. Come into his presence with a joyful song.
Realize that Yahweh alone is Elohim. He made us, and we are His. We are His people and the sheep in His care.
Enter his gates with a song of thanksgiving. Come into His courtyards with a song of praise. Give thanks to Him; praise His name.
Yahweh is good. His mercy endures forever. His faithfulness endures throughout every generation."

Sara's birthday was beautiful. The sun shone bright, and so did she! I thank the Lord for such a lovely day, and the year to come for Sara!

Don't forget to take a look at my new page, "18 Things Learned ft. Sara" and "18 Things I love About My Sister" from me! I am SO happy that my sister wrote 18 things she learned in 18 years. We hope it will bless you!!

Her birthday cake was none other than... Mom's cheesecake! With raspberry sauce, of course. Isn't it beautiful?? I heard that it was absolutely delicious, too. But what would I know? I don't eat cheese :D

I knew I could count on Mom... She made vanilla cupcakes with raspberry buttercream icing, at least I had some raspberry sauce too! ;)

The best thing about having a sister was that I always had a friend.
-Cali Rae Turner

Sara was so thrilled with all of her presents... I love seeing her so excited as this! She is usually a pretty calm person. Example: She'll accept her presents with a subtle "aww! Really!?" compared to me: "NO WAY! HOW DID YOU KNOW??"

Our dad worked hard to accomplish this awesome lap desk!! Mom found the exact same stain color as the one on Sara's bookcase, so it looks perfect in her cozy bedroom. I just love how practical and professional it is! Thank You Jesus for a handy dad! :) Oh yes, and don't mind the cat, Sasha. She's just there, sleeping... zzz...

*Drum roll* My present to Sara! I made this cross-stitch for her :) It was a great deal of work, but it was absolutely worth it!!! Especially for her reaction!! I am SO happy with the way it turned out! I love the writing... I shall keep the pattern just for it! ;)

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.
-Isadora James

We ended the day with a game of Bejeweled, the brand new game dad found! :) We love playing board games together, especially strategic ones, such as Blokus, Cathedral, and from now on Bejeweled :D After the game (which Sara won), we watched a movie and had dessert with tea. It was wonderful, praise the Lord!! Sara says it was her favorite activity of the day :)

Thank You, Yahweh, for such a beautiful celebration! Please bless my awesome sissy and give her all the desires of her heart!

I hope that you all enjoyed these colorful pictures, I would LOVE to hear about your own or your siblings' birthdays, so leave a comment! :) May our Lord make His face shine upon you all!

Happy birthday, Sara! + 18 Things I Love About My Sister

Tomorrow on the 18th will be my *awesome* sister's 18th birthday! I am so happy for her... 18! You don't get to turn that age everyday :D

For some of you who don't know Sara very well, let me tell you a few things about her: she is a Jesus-loving, high-spirited, totally amazing young lady! :) I love her to pieces! My life would definitely not be the same without a big sister... Who would have shown me how to get through my dad's loving teasing (haha)? How to ride my bike speedily without falling flat on my face? And not to forget how to change diapers (being the youngest never gave me a chance to practice!)... Oh dear... ;) Thank God for sisters!

Sara... Also known as Rara or Ra! :)
On her special day we are going to begin the morning by opening her gifts (I can't wait! Who else is more excited for others' gifts than your own??), and after this we shall go to a new restaurant for brunch. :D Then we are going to come back and later have a supper of bruschettas, beef tortellinis with "sauce rosée" (creamy tomato sauce), and cheesecake & raspberry sauce for dessert! Talk about good, 18th-birthday-worthy food! ;)

Everybody loves her! Even dear ol' Kat, the 900+ lbs. Quarter horse.
Here are 18 things I love about (or doing with!) my sister:

  1. Her willingness to help. Don't know what to wear? Having trouble shaping those pretzels correctly? Don't worry, Sara to the rescue!
  2. Her gentle bluntness. Sara never wants to make anybody feel bad, but when you mess up something, she has a wonderful way of telling you without saying it... And it usually ends up in laughter from both sides!
  3. Her patience. Especially with me! :D Whether with children, stubborn dogs, or a confused sister, Sara stays patient no matter what!
  4. Her style! I mean, come on, who else can rock an old 90's shirt like her?
  5. Going on bike rides with her... But it feels weird when I am leading the way!
  6. Or discovering a new place! Last spring we found a grassy trail leading to a beautiful view of the river. We named it Primula, meaning daisy in Latin (because there were daisies all over the ground)! :D
  7. Her love for Jesus!
  8. This one is an oldie, but playing Barbies with her has to be the top thing I loved doing with her... Haha! Nobody can play like her and I!
  9. How we can talk without words... Hmm?
  10. How she can explain complicated (or not so complicated) things to me... She gets how I think!
  11. Having an Etsy business with her. Oh, I love it! She's the best partner anybody could hope for.
  12. Her music choices. She might not know this, but I kind of really like the Christian rock songs that she is playing in her room... Shh!
  13. Spending waaay too much time on talking about one subject... We can go on and on! ;)
  14. That wheezy breathing I get after having a real' good (30 minutes long) laugh with her. Or the hurting cheeks!
  15. Watching movies with her! :D
  16. How we each know our position when we work together... For example,  when we make cookies, she will mix all of the dry ingredients while I cream the butter and sugar. Or when we make pancakes, she will most likely cook and flip them while I tidy up the kitchen. Team work!
  17. How we really "get" each other... Things I thought only I felt or did, she did too, and vise versa!
  18. *Drum roll* Everything! If Sara wasn't my sister, she would HAVE to be my friend! Or else... I would miss all that vitamin C from her constant sunshiness
I love you sissy, and I hope you know it! ♥

What makes YOUR sister so awesome? Please tell me in the comments, I want to know! :D And stay tuned for "18 things Sara learned in her 18 years of life"! I shall post it soon, Lord willing!

Proverbs 3:15
"She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her."

Thank You Lord for such a lovely sister!!!

Presenting... SensibleCrafts!

Good morning! :)

I am very thrilled to share with you my sister, Sara, and I's brand new shop on Etsy called SensibleCrafts! We are making practical crochet products such as dishcloths, heatless hair curlers, water bottle holders, and much more to come soon! We strive to sell useful items for the home and others at an affordable price, which we hope will be a blessing to you and your family. :)

We are currently having a sale on our dishcloths; buy 2 and get 1 free! We are also planning on adding our other listings soon, so come back often! ;)

It is truly a blessing from Jesus to be able to open a shop online with my sister! And I am so grateful for my hands to be able to make pretty things out of simple yarn, thank You Lord!

On May 3 Sara and I opened a booth alongside our parents during our community's annual garage sale. It was such a jollity! Close to 200 people passed by our street, and we were given so many compliments and encouragements. What a beautiful gift from our God! :) I will always remember the little girls pointing at the colorful headbands or the *pink* eReader/book covers, saying, "Look, mommy!" or the sweet grandmother purchasing our jar scrubbers (not pictured) for her 2 daughters on Mother's day!

A little bit of our inventory: eReader covers, sport headbands/bracelets, cat mouse toys, sets of dishclohs, Peter Pan collars, jar scrubbers (which aren't in the picture yet) girl headbands... So many things!

Grocery bags & water bottle holders!
My hair before and after using our Hair Curlers. I can't believe it! I put them in my damp hair after a shower, slept comfortably in them, and voilà! I woke up to beautiful curls in the morning. :D Talk about a speedy hairdo! They made by hair drastically shorter as well, which is nice for the warm summer days ahead (if they can ever come)!

We pray that you will take a look around our shop and purchase one of our lovely products! Feel free to share any of the pictures in this post via Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, etc.! :) What would you like to see in our shop? Tell Sara and I at sensiblecraftsshop@gmail.com or comment below!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly: and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
